Don’t Think. Run.
Every spring, runners kick off the year with a renewed passion for running. For spring 2010, Character collaborated with Nike to launch the running brand’s newest and lightest shoe, the Nike LunarElite+. Designed specifically with the NikeTown New York store in mind, Character designed a retail system inspired by flyers and the Brooklyn Bridge in celebration of urban running.

A Cause for Design
Character introduces Things Out of Character, a line of limited edition prints benefitting charity. Proceeds for the sales of the sixteen posters will be donated to Doctors Without Borders, an international medical humanitarian organization that provides aid in nearly 60 countries, including Haiti.

Character is Hung Up
Character designed a one-of-a-kind skateboard deck as part of San Francisco AIGA’s Fall Gala, entitled “Hung Up.” AIGA San Francisco invited local artists and designers to contribute custom skate decks, which were auctioned off at the end of the gala.

Levi’s, Less is More
For Levi’s Fall 2009 packaging launch, Character set out to create an eco-friendly system, which minimizes the number of paper items per garment. In partnership with Levi’s, Character designed a new packaging system with the goal of reducing environmental impact and cost, for the Men’s, Boys, Misses, Juniors and SilverTab segments.

Be Transformed
For Nike Women’s Training-Asia Pacific Spring 2009 media event, Character focused on the physical and personal transformative power of training. Taking technology cues from Nike’s Sister One shoe, Character’s design for the space and environmental graphics utilized the footwear’s multi-dimensional diamond movement and flywire structure.

No Ordinary Calendar
In collaboration with Chronicle Books, Character designs Eric Carle’s Dream Snow Pop-Up Advent Calendar. Based on the best-selling Christmas story Dream Snow by Eric Carle, the calendar unfolds to reveal an intricate pop-up Christmas tree surrounded by presents. Each window reveals a new decoration to add to the scene.

The Hardest Team To Make
The Olympics are the ultimate celebration of sport and culture. Preceding the 29th Summer Olympics, Eugene, Oregon will host America’s best athletes as they compete at the USATF Olympic Trials starting June 27th, 2008. NBC and Nike will introduce America to these athletes as they compete for a spot on The Hardest Team to Make. Character collaborated with Nike to create limited edition athlete posters, as well as event and retail graphics.

Nike Unveils Chinese Uniforms in Beijing, China
Nike President and CEO Mark Parker and 22 Chinese Federations, including basketball star Yi Jianlian, unveiled their uniforms at China’s famed Tai Miao, the ancestral temple east of the Forbidden City. Character collaborated with Nike Asia Pacific to design the event space, which included red carpet courtyard and product display system.

Published by Chronicle Books in March of 2008, Eric Carle’s Number Flashcards hits stores. As part of a series of products featuring Eric Carle’s distinctive illustrations, Character designed the boxed set containing cards that are durable enough for play and decorative enough to hang on the wall.

Nike and Apple bring iPod to a Gym Near You Nike and Apple announce that they are working with equipment manufacturers and health clubs to allow members to plug their iPod Nano directly into cardio equipment to track workouts and upload the information to the Nike+ website. Character teams up with Nike to design the identity system and event graphics for Nike+ Gym.

Levi’s, The World’s First Blue Jean, Re-Invigorated Levi Strauss & Co. has been the innovation leader in apparel since 1873, the year they created the world’s first blue jean. Since August of 2007, Character has been collaborating with Levi’s to re-invigorate their retail brand presence. From packaging, to in-store signage, Character has been working with Levi’s to create a seamless experience between the Men’s, Boy’s, Women’s and Junior lines. |

Character Helps Re-launch Restoration Hardware Restoration Hardware, one of the leading home furnishing companies, partners with Character to revamp its brand across all channels, from catalog, retail stores, to website. The first re-branded mail order catalog landed in homes in the spring of 2007. Soon after, the retail stores and website followed suit under Character’s art direction and design. |

Go the Distance: Nike Women’s Marathon
Held annually in San Francisco, Nike Women’s Marathon is the largest women’s full and half marathon in the US. A race to benefit the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, it draws an average of twenty thousand participants. Character collaborated with Nike to design all event collateral, signage and materials.

Out Of Character
The three Character partners, Ben Pham, Patricia / Tish Evangelista and Rishi Shourie, were guest speakers at the American Institute of Graphic Arts, Utah Chapter. Held at the Salt Lake Art Center, the auditorium was filled to capacity for the lecture held on February 23, 2006. |
